Many children in India are too poor to go to school. Freedom to Learn is a UK registered charity that provides sponsorship for individual children, enabling them to get an education.


The charity does not only cover the cost of the schooling as each child also requires suitable clothing, shoes and books.

Freedom to Learn is currently working mainly with Indian and Tibetan refugee children in the Himalayan region of North West India.

Yet, the country's per capita income remains very low and 26 per cent of the population live well below the poverty line.
